After an impressive double-digit win over a solid Northwestern State team in the season opener, the Rebel Roundballers take the court again on Monday night against Georgia Southern.
To be honest, I'm not expecting this to be much of a game. Sure, Georgia Southern was just three points short of winning the Sun Belt and making an NCAA Tourney trip last season (they lost the conference title game to Georgia State, which went on to upset Iowa State in the first round), but this is a completely different team. They lost five seniors from that squad, leaving them with the highest percentage of underclassman on a D1 roster. Guards Jake Allsmiller and Mike Hughes are the only returners with substantial experience, and they're both sophomores.
Georgia Southern played (and destroyed) an NAIA team in their season opener, so now eight freshman will be facing their first D1 opponent on the road in the SEC. Look for Sebastian Saiz to have another big night down low (he posted a 16-14 double-double last Friday) and for Stefan Moody to score however many points he decides to score.
