Ole Miss falls to No. 5 in Week 6 SEC Power Poll after loss to Florida

After their first loss of the season, the Ole Miss Rebels are once again staring up at the top of the SEC in the Week 6 SEC Power Poll.

The Rebels slid to No. 5 this week, after a fortnight spent at No. 1 in the poll on the strength of their impressive win at Alabama. Taking a beating four times as bad at Florida — which soared from No. 7 to No. 3 in this week's rankings — dropped Hugh Freeze's team back to what appears to be the penultimate position in a six-pack of teams considered the league's best.

The Rebels earned 109 points from voters, and only Georgia (No. 6, with 108 points) ranked behind them among teams earning 100 or more points; meanwhile, Mississippi State languishes in seventh, 22 points behind the Dawgs.

After blowing out Alabama and then struggling to beat Vanderbilt, the Rebels shine wore off completely in Gainesville. Was that Alabama loss more about the Tide than it was about the Rebs? It's starting to look that way.---A Sea of Blue
