Ole Miss recruiting: 5-star Lyndell Wilson intrigued by Rebs

Another five-star croot is starting to warm up to the Rebels, this time it's a linebacker. And what does Ole Miss getting Greg Little's last official visit mean?

Student Sports

Despite the season heading into the month of October, recruiting is still going strong. Ole Miss received some really good news this week after the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country announced his top eight teams he's considering and the Rebels are still in the mix. Five-star Lyndell Wilson of Montgomery, Ala. and Carver High School released his top choices via Twitter on Wednesday and has the Rebels in the mix along with Florida, Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon and Southern Cal.

Wilson, a 6'2, 220-pound monster for the Carver Wolverines, is a bit of a new name for Rebel fans on the crootin front, but offensive line coach Matt Luke is Wilson's primary recruiter and he and the Ole Miss program have Wilson's full attention now after their huge win in Tuscaloosa in September. Another thing to keep in mind, and it seems to be becoming a trend, is that Wilson has been in contact with Shea Patterson here and there on Twitter. Something that struck me as very odd was that an Alabama kid did NOT have Auburn in his top choices. Guess Gus and Co. need to hit that prayer circle a little harder. As of right now, the Tide are the heavy favorite for Wilson. So far this season, Wilson has collected 40 total tackles, 23 of those assists and 17 of those solo.

Five-star Little making the rounds

Five-star all-everything offensive tackle Greg Little has made his decision...on where he's visiting. The No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 2 overall player in the country (Shea says hi, Greg) has narrowed down his five official visits and is ready to begin his crootin tour. Little, the 6'5, 305-pound behemoth, spoke with Scout's Greg Powers about his visit to Auburn, his trip this weekend to catch Alabama vs Georgia in Athens, Ga. and what else he has on tap for his final three official visits.

Little will be in the Peach State this weekend, after that, he will be in Baton Rouge, La. for their matchup against the Florida Gators and then he will be in Oxford for the Texas A&M game for quite possibly his last visit before making his decision November 4th. Those of you that follow crootin closely know that statistically, schools have a much better chance to secure a commitment and/or signature when getting the croot's final visit. Basically, Ole Miss is the school in the weeds that's waiting to strike and the unsuspecting Alabamas, Georgias and Texas A&Ms will never see it coming.

Louisiana WR likes Rebs

We can come to expect these things now, but once again, another blue-chip croot has listed Ole Miss as one of this favorite schools. Four-star wide receiver Stephen Sullivan has announced his top six and the Ole Miss Rebels once again made the cut. The 6'5, 230-pound target from Donaldsonville, La. released his top list including the Rebs and TCU, Sullivan also listed Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn. Sullivan is a former LSU Tiger commit and according to most, seems to be leaning towards the Horned Frogs in Ft. Worth, Tex. according to the 247Sports crystal ball predictor. So far this season, Sullivan is averaging a little over 115 total yards per game and has 466 total yards for the Donaldsonville High School Tigers.

Rebel commit and targets make prestigious list

Rivals.com's Woody Wommack has comprised a list of his "Physical Freaks" and Ole Miss fans should pay attention to a few names that made the cut. First, Ole Miss commit DeKaylin Metcalf, a four-star wide receiver from Oxford, Miss., made the cut to no one's suprise. Standing a legitimate 6'4, Metcalf continues to abuse opposing corners and really impose his will when the ball is in the air. And it doesn't even look hard. Joining Metcalf are two names that Ole Miss fans juuuust might get to know a lot better in the coming months. The Oxford Monster has done it all this season for the Chargers as he has been responsible for 372 total yards and three touchdowns.

The IMG Academy duo of Drake Davis and Isaac Nauta were also crowned physical freaks by Wommack. The 6'4, 215-pound Davis is also a receiver, but he has done most of his damage this season in the return game. He has 193 kickoff and punt return yards so far this season for the Ascenders and still has collected 189 yards on just five receptions. Davis has six total touchdowns and seems to be getting closer and closer to making a decision in his recruitment and the Rebels continue to be the heavy favorite.

Along with Davis, Nauta has also been a force in the passing game for IMG. He has hauled in eight receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown. The nation's No. 1 tight end stands 6'4 and weighs in at 235-pounds, but is nimble and can be a threat over the middle and up the seam with his deceptive speed. After decommitting from Florida State, most thought Georgia was the immediate answer. But, the more chemistry he and Shea Patterson continue to build and the more games Ole Miss wins, Isaac Nauta in red and blue becomes more and more a possibility.
