Happy Homecoming! The Ole Miss family is eager to welcome its football team back to Oxford after a tough road loss, and along with it throngs of alumni packing the stands to watch a Rebel football victory. Make no mistake about it, today's game between a good Ole Miss team and a bad New Mexico State team is not going to be too close of a contest, so pack your pessimism away for this week and save it for, well, any week left in the 2015 season. The Rebs are going to win, it won't be particularly close or exciting, and Mareigh-Grace Tapscott-Wall (or something) will be crowned Homecoming Queen in front of a crowd that includes maybe a few dozen spectators who actually give a shit.
Then we all go to a sock hop, some goons spike the punch, and George McFly decks Biff Tannen to earn the affection of Lorraine Baines, thus preserving Marty McFly's very existence. Great Scott!
...what's that? No, that's not what Homecoming is? Fine, whatever, I have no idea what all this is about either, nor do I care. I'll be watching the game at a bar.
If you are not like me, and are going to be at the game in person, snap some photos of your game day experience. As he does every week, our resident Oxonian smeargle asks kindly that that you show off how you take in the Grove by giving this website a mention on Twitter using the #Grovecup hashtag. If we see you and think you're interesting, we'll put you on the internet. Haven't you always wanted to be on the internet?
Once you're done watching the Rebels' second string run roughshod through the Aggie backfield in an effort that should demonstrate absolutely nothing of import, take in one of the handful of other games on the Saturday afternoon docket. Some of them might even be interesting!
