Ole Miss Recruiting 2015: Is CeCe Jefferson Considering Auburn?

With National Signing Day just around the corner, let's take a look at the latest recruiting news, including Jefferson's visit to The Plains.

Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

For those of you that were drinking under a rock this weekend, you missed all the hoopla that is the pursuit of CeCe Jefferson. The 6'2, 275-pound five-star DE was in Auburn for his official visit and was taking it all in with fellow five-star recruit and Floridian Byron Cowart. The two are close friends but there are conflicting reports out there if they are in fact a package deal at the next level. Something of note that is huge in terms of getting CeCe's signature in February, according to the bros at College and Magnolia, is that his two former primary recruiters at Florida now coach at Auburn.

It remains to be seen whether or not he makes it to Oxford unofficially for the crootin extravaganza this weekend. If he does, that bodes very, very well for Chris Kiffin and the Landsharks. Tour de CeCe wraps up in Baton Rouge the last weekend in January before he makes his declaration.

Let's take a look at what else is going on in the crootin-verse.

Rivals releases final rankings

Rivals.com released their final rankings this week and several Ole Miss targets made significant leaps.

Five-star OT and Rebel commit Drew Richmond jumped all the way to the No. 12 overall prospect in the country slot and is now rated higher than Laremy Tunsil was in 2013. After spending the weekend in Auburn, taking in the toilet paper and Muschamp temper tantrums, CeCe Jefferson moved into the top 20 as well and could join Richmond as a fellow five-star get for the Rebs. Four-star linebacker Leo Lewis jumped 34 spots and will potentially be the highest-rated linebacker prospect Ole Miss has welcomed to campus since CJ Johnson.

Four-star wideout DaMarkus Lodge, who could follow Donte Moncrief and Laquon Treadwell as the next big pass-catcher to play in the VHS, and Javon Patterson, who turned in an impressive showing at the U.S. Army All-American Game, both finished in the top 100.

4-star Rasool Clemons lists Ole Miss as a favorite

One name that has jumped onto the crootin board of late is DE Rasool Clemons of Aiken, S.C. Once a UVA commit (haha, suck it, Wahoos), he has since reopened his recruitment and the Rebs are showing keen interest in the four-star's services. According to Eric Russell of the Aiken Standard, the 6'6, 212-pound croot has expressed interest in playing in the SEC and listed LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss among his favorites. According to 247Sports.com, he is listed as a visitor for the crootin blowout pool party the weekend of January 23rd.

3-star Austrian Robinson will be on campus this weekend

According to Yancy Porter over at OMSpirit.com, defensive lineman Austrian Robinson of Pawling, N.Y. was visiting Miami (FL) this past weekend and will in fact be in Oxford for the crootin weekend extravaganza on January 23rd. The 6'5, 265-pound DL will round out his officials with Ohio State the following weekend. As he told Porter, he "talks to Dave Wommack a lot and thinks he's a good fit for the defense." He also said the coaches are telling him that he can "play the role of a Robert Nkemdiche." Those are some damn big shoes to fill but the high praise definitely shows how the staff feels about Robinson's potential.

3-star Kevin Scott is visiting Oxford in 2 weeks

Another name that has absolutely exploded on the crootin trail as of late is Kevin Scott out of Los Angeles, California. The relatively underrated DT prospect has really flown up crooter's boards and now holds offers from big-time programs such as USC, UCLA, LSU, Miami (FL) and Ole Miss. At 6-4, 285, his frame holds tremendous upside in terms of adding size and being able to handle the workload thrust upon him if asked to contribute early to a big name program. National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins of Scout.com reports that Scott will in fact be in Oxford for the January 30th weekend. Although he will miss the moon bounce and laser tag on the big crootin weekend, getting him on campus late in the process is always a plus.

Stay tuned for more crootin news to come later this week as the January 23rd blowout crootin fiesta is upon us.
