A pair of hat tricks highlighted a successful week for an Ole Miss Soccer team that now stands at (3-1-2).
On Sunday, Aug. 31, the Rebels returned to Oxford after a heartbreaking loss in Louisville by a score of 1-0. Looking to work themselves back into a rhythm, they broke through in glorious fashion to the tune of a 5-1 drubbing of Louisiana-Lafayette. (If you're looking for some hate week material, you could easily opt for the Holt Perdzock base-clearing triple in the Super Regionals or the fact that the Cajuns were unable to beat even dumpster-fire Ole Miss Football. You could also say that ULL is now officially Addie Forbus's b*tch.) Amory's own high-school phenom turned Ragin' Cajun killer, recording the Rebels' first hat trick since Rafaelle Souza's 3-goal performance in (let's face it) an absolute laugher against Jackson St. in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
The hat trick made a return on Friday night in the opening game of the 2014 Rebel Classic when, trailing by a score of 2-nil to Minnesota in the 2nd half, Olivia Harrison netted 2 goals to send the game to overtime before her golden goal in the 2nd overtime period to secure the victory.
Ole Miss closed the week with their 2nd draw of the year against Memphis.
The Rebels are aiming for their 2nd straight trip to the NCAA Tournament after the losses of Rafaelle Souza and Mandy McCalla, the two most explosive goal scorers of 2013. They'll face off against Austin Peay and MTSU this week before heading to Starkville to resume SEC play.
