My cousin went to Vanderbilt. After watching the hapless Commodores get shoved around for the first two quarters against Ole Miss on Saturday, he stood up, stretched, and simply said, "Well, we're a baseball school anyway."
He was not mad. He was not anxious. He was a bit irritated, but otherwise quite fine.
He was wearing his "Vanderbilt - National Champions" College World Series t-shirt.
It made me wonder: Would Ole Miss fans -- different folks with different expectations, obviously -- be able to maintain such bliss? Is that what being a "champion" does for you? For a little while, at least?
