The Associated Press released their preseason top-25 this afternoon, which sees the Ole Miss Rebels coming in at No. 18. Surprising nobody, Florida State comes in as the nearly unanimous No. 1 team, with Alabama, Oregon, and Oklahoma all receiving one first place vote apiece.
Here's the complete top-25:
|1||Florida State (57)||1,496|
|Others receiving votes: UCF 94, Florida 87, Texas 86, Duke 71, Iowa 68, Louisville 48, Marshall 41, Oklahoma State 37, Virginia Tech 26, TCU 23, Mississippi State 22, Michigan 19, Texas Tech 19, Miami (FL) 16, Cincinnati 15, Boise State 10, Oregon State 10, Northwestern 8, BYU 8, Penn State 5, Vanderbilt 2, Navy 2, Nevada 1, Louisiana-Lafayette 1, Utah State 1|
Ole Miss is one of eight teams in the Southeastern Conference which made the poll. Alabama comes in at No. 2, Auburn at No. 6, South Carolina at No. 9, Georgia at No. 12, LSU at No. 13, Texas A&M at No. 21 and Missouri at No. 24. So while Ole Miss is legitimately a top-20 team right now, the national consensus is that the Rebs are still only the fourth best team in their division, and only barely so.
What are your thoughts on the AP preseason top-25? Who is overrated? Underrated? And where should the Rebs be, if not at No. 18?
