Ole Miss Rebel first baseman Sikes Orvis has been selected to participate in the TD Amerirade College Home Run Derby, an event which will air tonight at 7:30 PM Central on ESPN. Orvis led the Rebs in homers (14) and slugging percentage this season (.540), as he helped lead the Rebs to an SEC Western Division crown along with a long overdue appearance at the College World Series.
Also participating in the event will be Michael Aquino of Rice, Tres Barrera of Texas, Matt Dacey of Richmond, Bobby Dalbec of Arizona, Eric Gutierrez of Texas Tech, Hunter Haley of Oklahoma, and Zach Ratcliff of Ohio State. Of that group, Orvis went yard the most this season, with Dacey and Gutierrez coming in at a close second with 12 apiece.
Given that the event's at TD Ameritrade, all Sikes has to do is hit, like, two dingers and he's the winner. Should be a lot of fun, so tune in.
