Yesterday afternoon, plucky underdog United States played star-studded favorite Belgium to a 0-0 draw in regular time in the elimination round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Red, White and Blue had a chance to win it late, with a Chris Wondolowski shot in the box skipping off of his foot too high to reach the net.
Then, in extra time, Belgium scored twice. It all seemed over just before Julian Green - the 19 year old Bayern Munich reserve who had become a bit of a punchline among some American soccer fans - scored quickly to restore American confidence. After that, there were many opportunities to score, particularly off of set pieces near the Belgian goal, but none of them would go in. America would fall in a heartbreaker, but not at all due to a lack in their own effort, particularly that of heroic American goalkeeper Tim Howard.
This guy, seen here during ESPN's live broadcast of the contest, knew these feelings all too well:

"OH NO NOT THIS AGAIN I HAVE SEEN THIS SHIT BEFORE OH GOD IT'S MARKEITH SUMMERS FLIPPING INTO THE ENDZONE IT'S LASALLE DRIVING THE LANE LATE WITH A SILLY FLOATER IT'S ANSU SESAY MISSING HIS FREE THROWS AGAINST VALPARAISO IT'S BO WALLACE FUMBLING INTO THE EDZONE IT'S THE FUCKING UNIVERSITY OF FUCKING VIRGINIA'S FUCKING BASEBALL TEAM AH SHIT I CAN'T TAKE THIS."
Undoubtedly full of pride and terribly disappointed, this valiant Rebel fan likely left the stadium in Salvador that evening and got pretty damn drunk. It's okay, Rebel-fan-watching-the-World-Cup, we know those feels.
