Will Allen and Sikes Orvis combined for five runs batted in, and the Rebel hitters found new life in TD Ameritrade as the Ole Miss Rebels beat the TCU Horned Frogs 6-4 in front of a 25K+ crowd in Omaha. Sam Smith earned the start, and Josh Laxer, Wyatt Short, and Aaron Greenwood combined to again lead the Rebels to a postseason win out of the bullpen. It wasn't a particularly convincing win, as it was a back-and-forth affair for most of the contest, but the Rebel victory sent the Horned Frogs back to Forth Worth, marking the second national seed (the other being Lousiana-Lafayette) that the Rebs have dispatched this postseason.
As a result, the Rebels will get their rematch against UVA tonight at 7:00 PM Central. The Cavaliers, being unbeaten in Omaha, will need to lose twice to go home, whereas the Rebels are still just one loss away from elimination. As we've seen for the past few weeks, this team's hanging in there by a hair, but that's somehow when they play their best baseball.
