Despite the fact that Ole Miss will return its entire backfield for the 2015-2016 season, an excellent player has decided he'd like to join the lot.
Swinney (5'10" 180 lbs.) selected the Rebels over offers from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, and others. According to the 247 Composite ranking, Swinney comes in as the #98 player nationally regardless of position. He is the #12 running back nationally and the #12 player in the state of Georgia.
Swinney is elusive, fast, and strong. Here's his embeddable video. Note that this is from the first few games of his junior year.
Swinney has more video you can watch on Hudl. As I mentioned, he's pretty fast. He also doesn't look to shy away from contact. I'll be interested to see how that translates to college. Some players can run with that style and dominate in college. Others have trouble when their opponents can tackle better. Obviously, a lot of people think Swinney will be able to produce on the college level. I'll side with them.
We won't really know what Swinney brings to the table until he gets to campus (assuming his commitment sticks). It's May. He won't sign with a school until February. Still, it's better that he committed early to Ole Miss rather than another school. This is a big-time commitment. The Rebels may not pursue other running backs in this class, but that's only speculation on my part. Either way, the recruiting class got better today.
