Ole Miss Baseball: Rebels Return Home to Face Murray State

New, 22 comments

It's a nice tune-up game heading into a weekend series against State.

The No. 13 Ole Miss Rebel baseball team avenged an earlier loss on the season by clobbering Memphis 9-1 last night at AutoZone Park. Unlike Rebel teams of recent memory, this squad didn't manufacutre runs and RBI single a bunch of folks home, but instead used extra-base hits and the long ball to put the rival Tigers out of reach. It was fun, and we'll recap it more in depth with a full midweek recap tomorrow. That recap will also focus on tonight's game, a very winnable home contest agains the Murray State Racers.

Murray State isn't exactly a good baseball team. They will travel to Swayze with a record of 14-15, and don't have much of anything to hang their hat on thus far. The Racers do not have a lineup with much pop, having hit only four homers on the season. They do have a decent enough team average and slugging percentage, but haven't put together the runs needed to be successful. Simply put, the Rebels should win this game.

Here's what to look for out of Murray State:

Ole Miss will throw Evan Anderson tonight, while Murray State is throwing TBD. Like it matters anyway (this attitude hasn't come back to hurt us at all this season). What's really important is that tonight is dollar hot dogs night at Swayze Field. You know you're gonna be there for that, because the only thing better than a ballpark hotdog is three or four ballpark hotdogs. Tonight, to celebrate dollar hotdog night, tweet pictures of your hot dogs to @SmeargleRCR or @RedCupRebellion. Anybody who sends us a picture of someone trying to eat two or more hotdogs at once will be retweeted and congratulated. Be sure to use the hashtags #dollarhotdogs and #LetsGoWalkinMississippi.
