Ole Miss Rebels Spring Game: Grove Bowl Time, TV Details, Preview, and Open Thread!

Ole Miss can't lose today, y'all!

A month's worth of work comes to a close today when the Ole Miss Rebels conclude spring practices with the annual Grove Bowl at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game kicks off at noon central, is free and open to the public, and will be broadcast live on CSS/ESPN3.

Today's spring game won't exactly be a traditional one, where one half of the team faces off against the other in what looks like any old football contest. Rather, it will be a hybridized scrimmage/practice, with a series of drills (i.e., pass skeletons) preceding situational scrimmages (i.e., 25-yards, third down, etc.). The offense and defense will be competing for points based on which side "wins" the respective drills. For example, if they're in an overtime scrimmage, where the offense has 25 yards to score, and don't, the defense wins a point.

This will mirror last year's Grove Bowl where, due to the lack of legitimate offensive line depth, two full Rebel squads couldn't be formed to legitimately face one another in a scrimmage. So it won't exactly be a "spring game" insomuch as it's an "open practice," but it will still be a lot of fun to watch.

If you're watching, use the hashtag #GroveBowl or tweet at us @RedCupRebellion. We'll retweet those of you who are interesting, pithy, or funny. If you're there, look for smeargle, who will probably be wearing a bowtie and slurring out of the side of his mouth.
