After falling to the No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats 80-64 earlier this week in Rupp Arena, the Ole Miss Rebels (15-7, 6-3 SEC) return to Oxford to take on the Missouri Tigers (16-6, 4-5 SEC) in the Tad Pad. Mizzou is also reeling from a loss to one of the SEC's better teams, having lost this past tuesday by ten to the Florida Gators in the O Dome. They, like the Rebs, have significant road woes which we fans hope will translate to another Rebel home victory this season.
In-conference struggles aside, Missouri does have a pair of guards who are towards the top of the SEC in points per game. Jabari Brown has a conference best 20.1 points per game against SEC foes. He's followed on his team by Jordan Clarkson, who is sixth in the conference in 18.7 points per game. (If you're curious, Marshall Henderson is fourth in the SEC with 19.1 points per game and Jarvis is eighth with 17.5) In a sense, Missouri's strengths are a lot like Ole Miss' - they shoot the three ball well and try to outpace their opponents, and when they're unable to do that they look one-dimensional and inept.
Interestingly enough, Ole Miss never played Missouri on the hardwood before the Tigers joined the Southeastern Conference. The Rebs are 2-1 all time against Mizzou, splitting the regular season series last year before beating the Tigers in the SEC Tournament. It will be interesting to see if the Rebs can keep their advantage on Missouri with this afternoon's matchup.
