Ole Miss vs. UCF baseball 2014 weekend OPEN THREAD

Cuss, cheer and drink with us as the Diamond Rebs take on UCF in a three-game series. We'll be updating this post throughout the weekend, so check back for scores and game recaps.

The Ole Miss baseball team scraped by with back-to-back walkoff wins against Louisiana-Monroe during the week, and it might not get much easier when a solid UCF team pulls into town for a three-game weekend tilt.

Must Reads

The Knights are 6-2 this season, with their most impressive win coming over an Oklahoma team that made it to the Baton Rouge Super Regional last year. This will be their second SEC opponent of the young season after falling 5-1 to No. 25 Florida during the second week.

The most interesting talking point of this series, in my opinion, is Rebel freshman Colby Bortles's connection with UCF. His big brother, Blake, is about to go in the top 10 of the NFL Draft after a stellar career at UCF. Mike Bianco is starting Bortles at first base on Friday.

Here are the game times, projected pitching match ups and weather forecasts for the weekend.

Friday, 6:30 p.m. CT

UCF: Eric Skoglund, Jr., LHP
Ole Miss:  Chris Ellis, Jr., RHP

Gametime forecast: 49 degrees, cloudy, 45 percent chance of rain

Saturday, 1:30 p.m. CT

UCF: Spencer Davis, Jr., RHP
Ole Miss: Christian Trent, So., LHP

Gametime forecast: 58 degrees, partly cloudy, 10 percent chance of rain

Sunday, noon CT

UCF: TBA
Ole Miss: Sam Smith, Jr., RHP

Gametime forecast: 61 degrees, cloudy, 10 percent chance of rain

By the way

We're going to be doing this open thread a little bit different. In addition to following along with the game, I've posted some starter topics for y'all to discuss in the comments thread. Have at it.
