UPDATE 12:55 p.m. CT: Donte Moncrief's official 40 time has been listed as 4.40. He unofficially ran a 4.35 on his second run.
Likely silencing critics who questioned why he would leave school a year early, Ole Miss wide receiver and NFL hopeful Donte Moncrief ran a blistering 4.35 40-yard dash today at the NFL combine.
Just saw where Donte Moncrief ran a 4.35. Thats flying. It's also how long it took to validate his decision. The $$$ will roll in now.— Neal McCready (@NealMcCready) February 23, 2014
Moncrief, who led the Rebels in receiving last year with 938 yards and six touchdowns, measured in at 6'2" and 221 pounds for the Combine, and demonstrated that he can combine that ideal NFL size with legitimate NFL speed at just 21 years of age.
This will undoubtedly help the former Rebel's NFL stock, but with so many good receivers in this year's crop it is tough to say that he can use these workouts to creep into the second or first rounds of the Draft. Either way, he'll get paid soon enough, and has undoubtedly turned the heads of some professional scouts this weekend.
