After the Ole Miss Rebels suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Auburn Tigers in the first ever top-5 matchup under the new College Football Playoff rankings, the Rebs dropped from No. 4 in the playoff poll to No. 11. That makes Ole Miss the top ranked two-loss team, which is a consolation prize of sorts for a team which was a legitimate national title contender until a few days ago.
Ole Miss comes in as the fourth SEC team in the poll behind Mississippi State, Auburn, and Alabama, and dropped to a spot sandwiched between Notre Dame and Baylor. The Rebels are still projected to finish with a New Year's Day bowl, and could find themselves in the Peach or Cotton Bowl depending on how the season finishes.
