2015 Guard Prospect Javon Patterson Commits to Ole Miss

Another huge one is reeled in by Hugh Freeze.

Javon Patterson, an offensive lineman out of Petal, Miss. who is considered one of the top guards in America and Mississippi's best high school football player for 2015 by 247Sports, committed to Ole Miss today. Patterson, who is listed at 6'2" and 290 pounds, was long considered a strong Ole Miss lean, even though Auburn was pushing hard for his commitment. He also had offers from Mississippi State, Alabama, Florida, and many others.

Patterson is an early enrollee, meaning he will be available for spring drills this year. Said Patterson, "I wanted to go in and get a head start in the weight room and compete with the guys in the spring."

This is, undoubtedly, a pretty valuable commitment to the program. Not only does this team need to continue to recruit elite offensive linemen - this is football, after all - but this program needs to continue to lock down the best athletes it can from the state of Mississippi. As Hugh Freeze has shown, any good Ole Miss recruiting class is first built on winning the battles at home, and both 2015 and 2016's classes don't seem to be exceptions to that idea just yet.
