After just over two months of football, here's how the SEC shakes out for now:
- Mississippi St. Bulldogs - This raises a question of what puts the "power" in the "power poll." Do we look at how teams are playing right now, or do we look at what they've done on the season thus far? If it's the former, Alabama deserves to be here. If it's the latter, State does. We're going with the latter for this week, but we're free to arbitrarily change that during any given poll from here on out.
- Alabama Crimson Tide - Amari Cooper isn't the best receiver in SEC history, but he's coming pretty damn close.
- Auburn Tigers - Oh, what's that, a team that's stout up the middle defensively? That should go well for Ole Miss this weekend.
- Ole Miss Rebels - The best defense in the country can only do so much.
- Georgia Bulldogs - Georgia's here for now, but you could make a case for them to be No. 2 or 3. They're a legitimate playoff contendor.
- LSU Tigers - Watch them turn around and lose to Arkansas or some shit.
- Texas A&M Aggies - Oh, you're still here. Uh... This is uncomfortable.
- South Carolina Gamecocks - The 'Cocks put a hell of a scare in Auburn this past weekend and kept the ball moving with a vertical passing game that looked as effective as any in the conference.
- Missouri Tigers - Here's another team that I really don't know what to do with in these rankings. They could be higher by a spot or two, just as they could be lower.
- Kentucky Wildcats - Mark Stoops is slowly turning Kentucky into a formidable SEC opponent. There's your cliched platitude of the week.
- Arkansas Razorbacks - Okay, here's another: they're going to beat one of Mississippi State, Ole Miss, or LSU, if not two.
- Tennessee Volunteers - They lost to Alabama by 14, but the game wasn't that close at all.
- Florida Gators - Will Muschamp has revived the age old Florida tradition of sucking at football.
- Vanderbilt Commodores - Please keep Derek Mason forever.
