Small Forward Marcanvis Hymon Commits to the Rebs

The Memphis Product is rated as the 101st best player in the country by Rivals.com.

USA TODAY Sports

Marcanvis Hymon (don't snicker), a 6'6" small forward out of Memphis' Whitehaven High School who claims offers from Missouri, Mississippi State, Memphis, Arkansas, and others, committed to Andy Kennedy's Rebels squad yesterday. The first second member of the 2014 recruiting class along with Gian Clavell, Hymon cited Ole Miss' SEC membership and recent SEC Tournament title as reasons to pick the Rebs.

I would also imagine that being not much more than an hour from home makes the decision a bit easier.

In looking at his brief highlight video I happened upon after lazily searching YouTube, Hymon is a pretty dominant shot blocker and rebounder, albeit at the high school level. I am curious as to how he performs against AAU competition, but either way he does not fail to impress. If he can shoot free throws and demonstrate some sort of consistent midrange jumper, he could be a solid SEC wing. All around, I think this is a solid pickup for the Rebel basketball program.
