Linebacker Demarquis Gates Commits to Ole Miss

The Georgia high school star linebacker chose the Rebels over Tennessee and Kentucky.

The #135 rated player in the country per Rivals.com and a top 25 linebacker prospect per 247 Sports, Demarquis Gates committed to the Ole Miss Rebels today over offers from Tennessee, Oklahoma State, and Kentucky per 247 Sports and others.

Listed as a 6'2", 217 pound four star prospect by Rivals, Gates definitely has the frame to play SEC football. His highlight video doesn't have a whole lot that jumps out at you - he's not particularly fast, nor does he have the readily quick awareness you would look for in a linebacker - but he does demonstrate size, strength, and tackling ability.

Gates marks the fourth four-star rated prospect of the 2014 class to commit to Ole Miss, as well as the second non-Mississippian. Ole Miss currently has eight commitments and the #5 overall 2014 class per Rivals.com.
