Junior College Offensive Lineman Fahn Cooper and Linebacker Christian Russell Commit to Ole Miss

The Rebels got some help in positions of need this weekend in a pair of junior college commitments.

Fahn Cooper, an offensive tackle from College of DuPage in Illinois, and Christian Russell, a linebacker out of East Mississippi CC, committed to the Rebels this past weekend, marking the 22nd and 23rd commitments for the 2014 class.

Listed at 6'5" and 315 pounds, Cooper transferred to junior college after starting 13 games at left tackle for Bowling Green. As a junior college prospect, he attracted attention from Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, but committed to Ole Miss this past Saturday. He could start right away at right tackle for the Rebels, filling in the spot vacated by Pierce Burton's graduation. Also, he conceivably makes up for the loss of Avery Gennessey, an offensive tackle prospect the Rebs were recruiting hard who recently committed to Texas A&M.

Russell isn't as highly sought after a prospect as Cooper, but he is certainly a welcomed addition in a position of need. Listed at 6'1" and 245 pounds, he has the size needed to play a physical mike linebacker spot in the SEC, and could fill in for Mike Marry once he graduates. Russell was recruited heavily by North Carolina out of high school, but spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy before transferring to East Mississippi CC. He also took official visits to UCF and Minnesota, and claims offers from Memphis, South Florida, Tennessee, and a few others.

Both are rated as 3-star prospects by Rivals.com.
