Ole Miss injury report: Rebels healthier coming out of bye week

Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche will both be on the field this Saturday against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Jeff Scott and Charles Sawyer remain questionable.

USA TODAY Sports

Coming out of their bye week, Ole Miss is looking much healthier heading into this Saturday's showdown with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Considering they played Idaho two weeks ago, they've effectively had three weeks off since beating LSU on Oct. 19, and the drastically less depressing injury report shows it.

The brothers Nkemdiche will be back on the field together for the first time since Robert strained his hamstring chasing Johnny Football against Texas A&M. He sat out LSU and Idaho, but looks ready to go for Saturday. Whether he'll be 100 percent is unclear, but his size and strength should prove beneficial in stopping Arkansas's power run game, regardless. Denzel has been gimpy since tweaking his ankle a few weeks back, but looked better in practice this week.

Jeff Scott is questionable with a thigh injury that kept him out against LSU and Idaho, and we likely won't know his status until game time. I expect we'll see him, but Jaylen Walton and I'Tavius Mathers should get a good bulk of the workload out of the backfield.

Here's the complete injury list for Saturday. If you have further information or realized I missed something, leave it in the comment section.

Probable

QB Barry Brunetti (shoulder) - He went 7-of-7 with two touchdowns against Idaho and, unless there's been a setback, he should see action.

LB Serderius Bryant (concussion) - Hugh Freeze said Bryant will see "a lot of snaps" on Saturday and hasn't named a starter between he and Denzel Nkemdiche.

LB Denzel Nkemdiche (ankle) - Freeze said he thinks Denzel is finally over his ankle issue and should be at full strength.

DE Robert Nkemdiche (hamstring) - Older brother will be back on the field for the first time since going down against A&M.

LB Temario Strong (neck) - It looks like he'll be giving it a go Saturday. He'll do most of his work on special teams.

Questionable

DT Issac Gross (shoulder) - Freeze says he expects Gross back this Saturday after sitting out the Idaho game.

DB Mike Hilton (hamstring) - He "looked real good" and "went through everything" this week at practice, according to Freeze.

S Charles Sawyer - Sawyer hurt himself while giving up a 62-yard touchdown to Idaho two weeks ago, and he's squarely questionable to suit up against Arkansas.

RB Jeff Scott (thigh) - It's unclear whether or not he'll suit up Saturday. Freeze said earlier this week he would make a decision by Thursday, but that hasn't been made that public as far as I can tell.

DE Carlos ThompsonIt seems unlikely that Thompson will make it back on the field this weekend.

DE Cameron Whigam - He's listed a questionable, but I can't find any recent updates on his status. He didn't play against Idaho.

Out

WR Korvic Neat - With Jordan Holder returning punts and Scott on the mend, Neat doesn't have much of a role on this team at this point anyway.

Out for season

TE Evan Engram (ankle)

DE C.J. Johnson (leg)

TE Christian Morgan (knee)

OT Aaron Morris (knee)
