Markell Pack Decommits from Florida State, Commits to Ole Miss

The Purvis, Mississippi native swapped his commitment to Ole Miss tonight.

Jim Brown-US PRESSWIRE

Markell Pack, a four-star wide receiver prospect out of Purvis, Mississippi and a top-10 prospect in state, dropped his Florida State commitment today and switched to his homestate Ole Miss Rebels. Of course, this was ample cause for a bass fishing reference:

This is a particularly big commitment for the Rebels, who possibly (likely?) lose Donte Moncrief to the NFL Draft after this season, and definitely lose Ja-Mes Logan and Jordan Holder to graduation. If the production of Quincy Adeboyejo, Evan Engran, and Laquon Treadwell this season can serve as any indicator, then Pack can expect early playing time close to home next year in Oxford, something which surely contributed to his flipped commitment.

This marks the second straight year that Ole Miss has flipped a Florida State commitment, with offensive lineman Austin Golson dropping the Seminoles for the Rebels late in the recruiting process last season. If Florida State's incredible season thus far is any indicator, an offer from the Seminoles can serve as a pretty good proxy indicator of a player's talent.

Pack is the 22nd commitment for Ole Miss on the year. The 2014 Rebels commitment class is ranked as high as 14 on 247Sports.com.
