Ole Miss injury report: Jeff Scott expected to return

The speedy halfback hasn't seen the field in over a month, but that should finally change Saturday against Troy.

The biggest name on Ole Miss's injury report is Jeff Scott, who missed his third consecutive game last week due to a bone spur and has not played since Oct. 12 against Texas A&M. We've heard positive news out of practice for a couple weeks now, but Hugh Kellenberger reports that this Saturday might finally be the day we see the senior running back out on the field, though in a limited capacity.

"We're going to try to bring him along slowly," running back coach Derrick Nix told Kellenberger. "Have a couple of packages to get him involved, but just do what he can do and not try to run him into the ground right off the bat."

We may not see much of Scott, but it will be nice to get the team's leading rusher back after an Arkansas game that saw the Rebels average just 2.7 yards per carry.

Among the other notable players banged up are Chief Brown and Carlos Thompson.

Here's the complete injury list for Saturday. If you have further information or realized I missed something, leave it in the comment section.

Probable

RB Jeff Scott (leg) - He'll likely be on the field just long enough to shake off some rust heading into the big Mizzou game.

DB Chief Brown (undisclosed) - He got nicked up in some form or fashion against Arkansas, but should be out there Saturday.

Questionable

DE Carlos Thompson (undisclosed) - He missed a fourth consecutive game against Arkansas amidst reports of some sort of nerve damage. His status hasn't been updated since last week.

DE John Youngblood (undisclosed) - With the d-line healthier, his role has diminished, anyway.

Out

WR Korvic Neat - I've not been able to ascertain exactly what's wrong with Neat -- outside his inability to field a punt, of course -- but it's starting to look like we might not see the senior on the field again, healthy or not. Jokes aside, we at the Cup wish him well.

Out for season

TE Evan Engram (ankle)

DE C.J. Johnson (leg)

TE Christian Morgan (knee)

OT Aaron Morris (knee)
