Rebels Lose Athlete Charles Williams to Louisville

Thought I'd mix a little bad news in with the good we've grown so accustomed to around here.

Charles Williams, a 6'2" 180 pound safety and wide receiver prospect ouf of the Miami area, has de-committed from Ole Miss and switched his verbal pledge to Charlie Strong's Louisville Cardinals club. He is rated as a three-star athlete prospect and one of the top-100 players out of the state of Florida by Rivals.com's recruiting services.

Louisville most notably won the Big East this past year before stunning the college football watching world with an absolute beatdown of the Florida Gators in the Sugar Bowl. Leading the Cardinals on offense is Teddy Bridgewater, one of many Miami natives already on the Cardinals roster. Clearly, as the former defensive coordinator of the Gators, Charlie Strong has made the recruitment of Florida one of his highest priorities as a head coach.

Williams was looked at by our coaches as a safety prospect, and will likely get a shot to work out at either that position or receiver if he sticks true to his commitment to Louisville.

Currently, the Rebs have commitments from defensive backs Nickolas Brassell (Welcome back, Nick. Please don't fail out.), Bobby Hill (Dammit, Bobby!), and Trey Bledsoe. Bledsoe, a two-way star out of Grenada, could also work out at receiver for the Rebels. In addition, the Rebs are believed to lead for South Panola star safety Tony Connor.
