Actually coach, your basketball program's APR is first in the SEC.

APR benchmarks met by all teams at Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss | The Clarion-Ledger
I was going to write something about this on Friday, then I didn't. I got busy thinking of ways to waste my weekend. Regardless, the APR scores Ole Miss received are significant and do demonstrate something which I feel that a lot of us have really overlooked with regards to the Ole Miss basketball program.

AD Ross Bjork is ready for test at Ole Miss | SEC Blog - ESPN
Bjork understands the difficulties that he will face at Ole Miss, but he's anxious to take the challenge on.

There's a big upside at Ole Miss...Being the University of Mississippi, having the state power of the brand of the University of Mississippi, being the flagship institution, but also having the attraction and the passion at Ole Miss is a big advantage for us. People are hungry, from a fan perspective. The state of Mississippi and our alumni are hungry to get back to winning consistently in all of our sports.

I think he's got a great point. I think, though, he'll have to make some great hires in the athletics department to really get the ball rolling on the establishment of long term success...

Swingle to manage Ole Miss athletics facilities, game operations |
...what's that? He's done that already? He hired Joe Swingle, a seven-year veteran facilities manager in the Southeastern Conference to serve as his Associate A.D. for Facilities and Game Operations? Wow. I hightly doubt any sort of repeat performance though...

Ole Miss Creates External Relations Unit |
...oh now you're just messing with us, Ross. You created some "Senior Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Relations" position right before filling it with someone who is experienced in said matters at the BCS level. Stephen Ponder will take that new position and will use his years of experience at Arizona State, where he served as the "Senior Associate A.D. for External Relations/Executive Director of the Sun Devil Club." Before that, he spent sixteen years as a fundraiser for the NC State Wolfpack Club. At both NC State and AZ State, Ponder was a very successful fundraiser.

According to the official release, "Ponder's duties at Ole Miss will include oversight of all of the Rebels' external areas, including the UMAA Foundation, ticket operations, ticket sales, marketing and communications and facilities and game operations." Certainly he'll have a lot on his plate, but 20+ years of experience at a high level has prepared him.

And, again, Ross Bjork is flipping "WAOM" and the good ol' boy system right onto their heads.
