RED CUP RADIO
Juco All-American, Whiskey Wednesday, and I recorded a radio show last night. We discussed Ross Bjork, sandwiches, and - well, that's really about it, Ross Bjork and Sandwiches. It was a damn fine show. Tune in to Rebel Sports Radio to give it a listen.
Sources: Ole Miss will hire Western Kentucky's Ross Bjork as athletic director | The Commercial Appeal
Much of the Ole Miss chatter yesterday involved our soon-to-be-named new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Mr. Ross Bjork of Western Kentucky. We at the Cup are genuinely excited about this possibility for a handful of reasons. First, Bjork's young; in fact, he's the youngest AD in all of Division 1. Inexperience might serve some problems, but his youth means he's likely more in touch with new media, younger fans, and 21st century marketing. Second, he was a valuable member of the athletics staffs at Miami, Mizzou, and UCLA, serving primarily as a director of fundraising. In these capacities, he showed with consistency his ability to raise money for the program employing him. Third, his last name is Icelandic. That's pretty neat.
Southern Miss 10, Ole Miss 0 | WJTV
This game was an absolute failure from top to bottom. This team is much better than the bogus performances they've put out over the past few games. Bianco and crew need to get back on track and fast, because they travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend to take on the Crimson Tide of Alabama. More coverage on that series later this week.
O'Brien and his LT to visit Ole Miss | CBSSports.com
We discussed it yesterday, but here's a link to a more official outlet. While we presume Vanderbilt to be in the lead for the services of O'Brien and Garcia, due to the James Franklin connection, I don't think Ole Miss can or should be counted out just yet.
Nkemdiche, nation's top recruit, will announce May 18 | Sporting News
The likelihood he commits to Ole Miss? Your guess is as good as mine. The likelihood he maintains that commitment all the way to signing day. Somewhere higher than "zero" and lower than "doubtful." I'd be stunned if his recruitment isn't a bizarre war/circus/college football hybrid.
Spring Drills Begin THIS WEEKEND | OleMissSports.com
Hey, Cup readers, would you like an opportunity to produce original content for Red Cup Rebellion and be somewhat compensated* for it? Can you write well? Are you observant? Do you know enough about football to come off as knowledgeable? Then here's your chance. The open practices this spring, according to the mothership, are:
this Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT and Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and both workouts are tentatively planned for the practice fields. Other open practices are set for Saturday, Mar. 31 and Saturday, Apr. 14.
I'm not sure that any of us can or will be in Oxford for any of those practices, save the Grove Bowl itself. If you'd like to report on them for us, drop a comment below. We'll make something happen.
*Compensation can be food, drink, nominal sums of money, help on your homework, or all of the above.
