Ole Miss Rebel news and notes looks at the Rebel basketball team, the BBVA Compass Bowl berth, and 'crootin.

US PRESSWIRE

Ole Miss & Pitt to meet in BBVA Compass Bowl | CBS42.com
Prepare your diddly hole, Pitt. While it's not the sexiest bowl out there and despite it not being located in a stadium last positively maintained in my lifetime, the BBVA Compass Bowl has a lot of Rebel fans very excited. After the past two years, seeing this team return to postseason play means so much to us fans.

Be sure to visit Cardiac Hill, SB Nation's Pitt Panthers blog to get their take on all of this. We'll be collaborating with them soon enough on some content, I'm sure.

Ranking all of the 2012-13 bowl games from best to worst | College football - ESPN
We're not last! The Compass Bowl is rated #24 out of 35, so take that Belk Bowl and Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl!

Ole Miss Basketball Remains Unbeaten | WJTV
It was sloppy, but the Rebels beat the Rutgers Scarlet knights this past Saturday in the SEC/Big East Challenge, advancing to 6-0 on the year. Marshall Henderson scored 18 points, while both Murphy Holloway and notched double-doubles with 31 points and 26 rebounds between the two of them. This Saturday's matchup against Middle Tennessee should promise to be a good one, so stay tuned for more information on that.

Ole Miss football commit Middleton officially visiting Louisville | Courier Journal
Finesse Middleton, a defensive end prospect out of Gadsden, Alabama visited Louisville this past weekend and has de-committed from the Rebels for the 2013 signing class. There are multiple ways one can take this, not the least of which is "well we're getting Robert Nkemdiche, right?" Regardless, we at the Cup wish Middleton the best of success wherever he ends up, most especially if wherever he ends up is not in the Southeastern Conference.
