Middle Tennessee State upsets Ole Miss, 65-62, in men's college basketball | Gulflive.com
I'm not sure if "upset" is the right way to describe this outcome, except for the fact that I myself was pretty upset with it. MTSU is a good basketball team, but I think as far as talent goes we are better. We simply couldn't get things together when we needed them to, we missed far too many jumpers and threes, and we made some poor decisions with the ball. As was noted earlier after the game, our first loss of the season really did expose every weakness this basketball team has, from coaching down to individual players.
Hey, it could be worse. At least we're not this guy:
The Rebels' next game is this Friday against East Tennessee State in Oxford.
"Rebelz (Feed Moncrief)" Filming Gallery | Thomas Graning Photography
The incredibly catchy viral sensation from King Kobraz, the one that's still stuck in our heads two weeks removed from the Egg Bowl, is getting a new music video. King Kobraz, Donte Moncrief himself, and a slew of Rebel fans and students were on hand in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium last Thursday to film a music video which I presume will be released soon. Of note: they filmed this one using non-iPhone cameras, and this kid was there.
Nkemdiche Named Freshman All-American | OleMissSports.com
He might be just barely over 200 pounds and only six feet tall when he stands on his toes, but freshman linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche proved this year that, with football smarts and a relentless work ethic, a player can succeed in the SEC even if he is considerably undersized. From his stinger position - a hybrid safety/linebacker type of position that is used in coverage a good bit, but spends most of its time closer to the line of scrimmage - he led the Rebel defense with 78 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, four forced fumbles and three picks.

Birminghamites? Birminghamers? Regardless, if you're from Birmingham or very familiar with the city, shoot us an email, a tweet, a carrier pigeon, or whatever. I'm collecting ideas and suggestions to share with the rest of the Cup regarding places to eat, drink, be entertained, and potentially have a Cup meet-up type of situation either before or after our upcoming victory in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
