Former South Panola High School star and promising Ole Miss freshman Nick Brassell is aiming to return to Ole Miss after this season at East Mississippi Community College, Rebels247 is reporting.
Brassell, as you surely recall, was a dynamic player as a true freshman for the Rebs last season, catching 24 passes for 336 yards and two scores on offense, returning a punt for 85 yards and a touchdown in special teams, and recording 14 tackles, one half sack, and three pass break ups as a part of the Ole Miss cornerback rotation. Troubles with academics kept him from returning to the team this season and caused him to transfer to EMCC.
Through seven games at EMCC, Brassell has 26 receptions for 349 yards and four touchdowns, 26 rushing yards on three attempts, a handful of punt and kick return yards, and two passes broken up in limited action on defense.
I know this isn't exactly surprising news, but it's definitely welcome. Brassell was excellent in his limited roles as a freshman, and could undeniably contribute at either corner or wideout for this team.
