The number one prospect in the state of Mississippi per many recruiting services is set to recruit to Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn or Alabama during tonight's UnderArmor All-America game, which is set to air at 6:30 PM central on ESPN. Channing Ward, a defensive end out of Aberdeen, is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and a five-star prospect by Scout. He is considered by both services to be a top-100 overall player and a top-10 player at his position.

Ward is one of many elite defensive line prospects to come out of Mississippi this year, but he is the consensus favorite amongst those who follow these sorts of things due to his size (6'4", 260lb), athleticism, and success as a pass rusher. He notched twenty sacks this past season for an Aberdeen High School defense which went deep into the MHSAA 3A playoffs.

We at the Cup are fairly confident that Ward will end up committing to Ole Miss, but aren't certain enough to call him a "lock" or any other sort of goofy recruiting lingo at this point. Mississippi State and, lately, Alabama are still in the picture. If he is to choose and sign with the Rebels, he will easily be the most heralded recruit of Hugh Freeze's first class at Ole Miss.
