Around the SEC West - The LSU and Alabama Show

It's tough enough watching some Ole Miss games and following the team's storylines. The expectation that we're supposed to keep up with the rest of the SEC is difficult for many. So, here are your talking points when put in a pinch. Mexter Dccluster will handle the SEC East this season while Juco will bring's you a weekly segment on the SEC West. He couldn't do it this week because he's a doodoo head.

LSU Tigers (3-0, 1-0) Defeat Mississippi State 19-6
We already wrote about this during last week's "Around the SEC" segment, didn't we? Oh well, I can just keep it terse. LSU's defense shut Mississippi State's offense down completely, bewildering State fans who convinced themselves that the offensive outputs they saw their Bulldogs muster against Memphis and Auburn should be commonplace this season. Jarrett Lee looks competent enough to, like, win SEC football games too. Scary.

LSU plays West Virginia this week in the "Battle of the Kooky White People" (Swamp People vs. Hill People... I wish I could be there, and I mean that entirely) on ABC.

Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0) Defeats North Texas 41-0
That's really all there is to it. Alabama beat the shit out of a Sun Belt school. The Tide's defense was stellar, holding the Eagles/Mean Green to just 169 yards of total offense. The Alabama line gave plenty of room for Trent Richardson to trot his way to 167 rushing yards on 11 carries (15.2 yards per carry average... sheesh). This week on CBS, Alabama plays the...

Arkansas Razorbacks (3-0) Defeat Troy 38-28
Is Arkansas' defense still that suspect? Allowing troy to score 28 points is, in itself, a bit troulbing for any SEC team outside of our own. But to give up 457 yards? That's certainly worrisome. On offense, Ronnie Wingo rushed for just over 100 yards for the Hogs, earning two touchdowns in the process, while Tyler Wilson threw for 303 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick. I don't think Alabama's going to struggle much with Arkansas this weekend, especially considering the game's location and Arkansas' cakey schedule thus far.

Auburn Tigers (2-1, 1-0) Lose to Clemson 38-24
Gene Chizik, the former Defensive Coordinator for Auburn and Texas before taking the Iowa State head coaching job, apparently can't coach defense all that well (or his team's just that untalented on that side of the ball), because the Dabo Swinney-led Clemson Tigers amassed an astonishing 624 yards against Auburn this past Saturday. Clemson Quarterback Tajh Boyd was an EA Sports-esque 30-for-42 passing with 386 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

It's official. Ole Miss does not have the worst secondary in the SEC.

Auburn plays FAU at 6PM central this Saturday.

Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1) Lose to LSU 6-19
What's that? Chris Relf isn't all that good?! Whaaaaaaa?!

Oh, and Dylan Favre's little "I'm a whiner" Twitterfest was good Schadenfreude fodder for those of us up north. Thanks, State. These Bulldogs play the Bulldogs of Ruston (TSWMITSAOAIINL) at 6PM central this Saturday.
