Rebel Roundup - September 12, 2011

How Was Your Weekend?
Mine was great. I'll show you pictures later. You won't really care to see them but it'll be fun, like when your great aunt tells you stories of her scintillating trips to Branson.

HATE WEEK and Recaps and stuff?
We're slow out of the gate this week. I know. We'll have that stuff up and ready soon enough.

Commodores off to a 2-0 Start | ESPN
Even though I picked the 'Dores to beat the Huskies, I'm still pretty surprised that they actually did. It wasn't a pretty game, with turnovers doing their part to bail out less-than-mediocre offensive performances, but the fact remains that we're looking at a Vandy team that's hoping to jump out to a 3-0 season sart. They'll be gunning for us.

Nutt Sees Glimpses of Greatness | Clarion Ledger
I will say, there were some bright spots.  Jeff Scott showed some real promise to actually  be the Dexter McCluster 2.0 our fans have so longingly yearned for and falsely assigned to a handful of "diamond-in-the-rough" scatback types (Korvic Neat, anyone?). Tyler Campbell showed us that he just might win the freakin' Ray Guy award this year. Wayne Dorsey showed some promise with a big time interception.

So yeah, I can see where Nutt sees some glimpses of greatness. I also don't think we're all that impressed with our defensive tackles or interior line just yet, causing Rebel fans to legitimately doubt our chances from here on our. We'll see, though.

BYU On Wrong End of One Point Game | The BYU Universe
In case you didn't notice, BYU lost late to #24 Texas in Austin by a single point. Yes, even though Texas hasn't proved much of anything yet, that gave me a sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, BYU ain't all that bad of a team and we can and should glean a bit of optimism by having played them so close. Just some thoughts.
