Ole Miss vs. Alabama Baseball Preview

Alabama comes into the series sitting at 11-6 and having lost to several teams that aren't very good (Southern Miss, SELA, South Alabama, UCF, and UGA). The Rebels are 14-4 with only one seemingly bad loss to a 9-9 Houston team. obviously, losing the Tulane series was quite unfortunate as well, but at least the Green Wave is 12-4 on the season.

Alabama has some strong pitching and two players batting over 400 in their everyday lineup ( Brock Bennett and Jared Reaves). Unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, they only have one other everyday starter batting over 300 (Taylor Douglas). The Rebels on the other hand have five players batting over 300 and one batting 297 (Preston Overbey). Unfortunately, the Rebels haven't been able to accumulate actual runs with this across-the-board-averageness. We rank last in roughly three million offensive categories, and poor old David Goforth still hasn't registered a win on the season despite a 2.42 ERA.

Here's what we're looking at day by day:

Friday - 6:30 PM CT

BAMA - Nathan Kilcrease, Sr., RHP (2-0, 2.22 ERA, 30 K, 5 BB)

OM - Matt Crouse, Jr., RHP (4-0, 1.67 ERA, 22 K, 2 BB)

Saturday - 2:00 PM CT

BAMA - Adam Morgan, Jr., LHP (2-1, 3.74 ERA, 19 K, 5 BB)

OM - David Goforth, Jr., RHP (0-2, 2.42 ERA, 14 K, 8 BB)

Sunday - 1:30 PM CT

BAMA - Tucker Hawley, So., RHP (3-1, 2.16 ERA, 17 K, 2 BB)

OM - Austin Wright, Jr., LHP (2-1, 2.66 ERA, 25 K, 9 BB)

A series win here is a must, with a sweep being monumental for the Rebels momentum headed into SEC play. The Southeastern Conference will be absolutely BRUTAL this season, with Florida, South Carolina, LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas all possessing very talented squads. The Rebels will need to get SEC wins when and where they're available, and this weekend is one of the most opportune we will get.

The weather's going to be fantastic this weekend, so y'all have nary an excuse to miss this. Hotty Toddy, and Go Rebels Go!
