On Deck (& Open Thread): Austin Peay

Today and tomorrow at 6:30, our beloved Rebels will take on the Governors of Austin Peay.  So far, the Governors have not played on the road and are 4-0 at home.  They have defeated Valparaiso in a three game set and also have defeated Illinois State.  Their other game last weekend against Wisconsin-Milwaukee was rained out.

It's hard to know how good Austin Peay is, but they seem to at least be respectful each season.  They have only allowed 5 runs per game this season and have a staff ERA of 4.88.  Their opponents batting average is .259, and their staff has walked 23 and struck out 40.  Offensively, they hit .322 as a team and average 7.5 runs per game.  Frosh second baseman Jordan Hankins is batting .688 in 16 at bats.  Outfielder Rolando Gautier is batting .615 with a 1.154 slugging percentage.  Those big names might scare you, but only three players with significant (double digit) at bats are batting above .300!

Our Rebels are batting .337 which is the third best in the SEC.  Our staff ERA is 3.38.
