Here We Go: Ole Miss Rebels vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball Preview

It's back: Anthony Grant's death stare.

Guy seriously has some anger issues or at least has staring issues.

Alabama beat Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa earlier this season by playing solid defense and a fundamental post offense-style attack.

Coca-Cola is providing 2,000 t-shirts for Saturday's game at 3 p.m., but will a raucous crowd help the Rebels upset the Tide?

Every 'Bama fan I've spoken with around B'ham has expressed concern over this game. They know they need to win it to keep their SEC regular season championship and NCAA hopes alive.

So why can't Ole Miss be the spoilers and better their NIT seed at the same time?

It could happen, but not if the Rebels don't make a few key changes from their previous game in Tuscaloosa.

The Rebels fell behind early against Bama in T-town, and if that incident repeats itself, the crowd will not be a factor, and the weight of a disappointing season will stifle any chances for a comeback.

Auburn showed an interesting strategy against Alabama this week: hack the shit out of the Tide and make them beat you at the charity stripe and with their defense. It caused Alabama to have very little offensive potency and slowed the pace of the game to a grinding halt.

The best hope Ole Miss has in this game is to start off the game with some quick points and get out to a 6 or 8-point lead and then grinding the Tide down in a similar Auburn fashion. It's time to drop the finesse and up-tempo style as Bama's defense is simply going to play too hard to allow enough open looks for this strategy to work.

Chris Warren has got to play some of the best 35 to 40 minutes of defense he can possibly muster. He's getting blown by almost every game, and it's the grind of the long season and so many minutes played wearing on him. This is a big one, CW, but it's got to be won with some good defensive stops rather than long 3's.

Terrence Henry has played in Ole Miss games this season, but none of them did he ever really show up. Another post presence in some form would help take pressure off our guard centric offense to let those shooters get more open looks. Henry simply has to produce more inside the paint.

Predictions

Ole Miss 64

Alabama 69

I just can't pick the Rebels right now. They aren't playing with any kind of pride, and even our most loyal fans seem to have run out of gas in supporting this season.
