Tennessee 74 Ole Miss 57 - Patience and Poise | Rocky Top Talk
There's no way around this: the Rebels were horrible during the second half. Tennessee "earned" a win in Oxford, dropping the Roundball Rebs to 1-5 in the SEC. Good grief.

Four-star cornerback Jermaine Whitehead has Auburn in mix | AL.com
Jermaine Whitehead visited and liked Auburn this past weekend, saying that now Auburn, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss are all in the mix. We at the Cup still expect Whitehead to sign with Ole Miss, but there's a legitimate chance he ends up on the Plains next fall.

Top 25 junior college (JUCO) players in the country | 247Sports
Nick Fairley and Cameron Newton were both recruited out of Junior College, so despite the general saying of nay many of us have towards Juco athletes, great things can come from them. On 247 Sports' list of the top-25 Juco players currently being recruited, Rebel commit Gilbert Pena comes in at #13 as the 5th best defensive tackle (damn, DT's are pretty adept at winding up in junior colleges).

Prep coaches team up to revive Memphis-area recruiting | The Commercial Appeal
Ever since the Albert Means scandal, Memphis-area recruiting has had a bit of a negative aura about it, keeping SEC coaches cautious to recruit talent from the mid-South's high schools. But, with the high school talent in the Memphis-area this upcoming recruiting season, that is looking to change, and Ole Miss will certainly play a big part in that.

"So we're going to hit Memphis extremely hard; we're going to be very thorough.

How to Talk About Oversigning | Team Speed Kills
Team Speed Kills' Year 2 nails it once more with this frank look at a topic which seemingly comes up every January and February: oversigning. Specifically, Les Miles, Nick Saban, and Count Giggity are always the names mentioned regarding this "heinous" practice with Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi State fans blindly leading some sort of just e-crusade to make sure that football players who aren't very good at football keep their scholarships... Obviously, we're biased, but Year 2 isn't, and he does an excellent job of looking at this controversial (non-)issue from multiple angles.

Notes: Morgan back to feeling normal | Rivals
Jake Morgan, the one-time All-SEC Rebel pitcher and bloody-nozed badass, underwent Tommy Johns surgery this past season, causing him to miss out on the team's triumphant return to postseason losses to the University of Virginia. His elbow's feeling normal again, giving optimism to the Cup that Morgan could again become the force we remember him as.
