"Proofreadin'" - which is how we put together our Blogpoll draft ballot - is far more crazy this week than it was last week because now we have dove head-first into resume balloting. What does this mean? Well it means that if you aren't undefeated, you don't make the RCR ballot this week (since there are more than 25 teams left with a goose egg in the right column). Think that's stupid? Well, is the beautiful, unique way that we choose our national champions in this sport. College football is about talk. Here's something to talk about:
Absent some mighty fine convincing, this week's ballot is split into categories that break down like so: you get an asterik by your name if you notched a win over a team ranked at the time or presently with only one loss. These are quality wins. Next to no one has any. My gut-feeling is to leave teams in the strata where they are and to move them around within the strata.TCU** (487.7 / 222.67)
South Carolina** (392.3 / 327.33)
Oklahoma** (422 / 408)
TCU has wins over then-ranked Oregon State and one-loss Baylor. Guess one of those quality wins probably won't hold up. The Gamecocks have wins over Georgia and Southern Miss, while the Sooners have wins over Florida State and Air Force, but the worst on-field numbers of the three.
Mizzou* (419 / 322)
Texas* (359 / 206.67)
West Virginia* (448 / 255.67)
Ohio State* (460.7 / 236.33)
Wisconsin* (439.3 / 301.33)
LSU* (323 / 279.67)
Utah* (390.3 / 271.67)
Alabama* (542 / 253.43)
Nevada* (560.3 / 402)
Boise State* (515.5 / 224.5)
Stanford* (475.3 / 227.67)
Auburn* (460 / 342)
Arizona* (457.7 / 220.33)
Temple* (314.3 / 347.67)
Mizzou's "quality win" is over Illinois. Again, probably won't hold up. But for a week, Tigers, you get some love. Look at those dominating numbers from Alabama. Cheese Louise. Also West Virgina looks better than I was thinking that they would. Nevada has been racking up the yards and has a win over California. Meanwhile, Arizona is a team that I expect will keep moving up in the Blogpoll. If you're wondering what Temple is doing there, they have a win over 2-1 Central Michigan.
Oregon (611.7 / 193.33)
Arkansas (483.7 / 255.67)
NC State (403.3 / 294)
Boston College (358 / 293)
Kansas State (413 / 351)
Nebraska (513.3 / 274.67)
Oklahoma State (596 / 374.33)
Texas A&M (501.3 / 255.67)
Michigan (510 / 439)
Michigan State (442.3 / 361.67)
Northwestern (416.7 / 357.33)
Indiana (413 / 340)
Kentucky (497.3 / 257.67)
Fresno State (337.5 / 272.5)
Florida (317.3 / 276.67)
USC (420.7 / 411.67)
Rutgers (297 / 259)
Oregon is tops in the land in total offense and total defense. They have been scary good against really bad opponents. Of the outliers on the list that I expect to stick around: Fresno State and Oklahoma State. Not in the big polls, yet, but they might be soon.
There are 34 undefeated teams left in FBS. Here's my first stab at which 25 ought to be a "resume" ballot and which ought to be left out:
