Vandy Hires Gus Malzhan?
We've got conflicting reports as to whether or not Gus Malzhan has taken the head coaching vacancy at Vanderbilt. The closest thing I can find to actually breaking this development is a wire report that actually has the word "may" in the title. And then there's a report from the Tennesseean which has even Vanderbilt itself denying the hiring of Gus Malzhan. What we are fairly sure of, though, is that Vanderbilt has offered Gus and that they've expressed interest in paying him a salary which is competitive in the Southeastern Conference. Methinks Vanderbilt sees schools like Stanford and Northwestern winning more football games than losing in BCS conferences before thinking, "heck, we could do that if we just tried harder." Regardless, all of this is a bad, bad sign for Ole Miss' future.
Recruiting TidBuggets
They're tidbits and nuggets, y'all. Floyd Raven, a cornerback out of Reserve, LA who is rated by Rivals.com as the #8 corner in America, committed to the Rebs this weekend over Texas A&M. It seems that Raven was holding out for an LSU offer which he never got. Next on the Rebel recruiting radar is JUCO Quarterback Zack Stoudt who took a visit to Ole Miss this past weekend and left fairly pleased. He's deciding between Kansas and Ole Miss for his services which means that he probably isn't much better than Randall Mackey or Nathan Stanley.
Warren and Buckner Spur Ole Miss Win | The Commercial Appeal
Reggie Buckner notched a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds against the TroGans of UALR which, supplemented with Chris Warren's 18 points, was enough for the Rebels to sleepwalk into victory on Saturday in Little Rock. Next up...
Ole Miss vs. MVSU | The Clarion Ledger
This should be a blowout type win. More on this from Juco.
