This past Saturday, Rutgers Defensive Tackle Eric LeGrand was left paralyzed from the neck down after making a tackle on a kickoff return against the Army Black Knights. Naturally, any Ole Miss Rebel who learned of this was immediately reminded of Chucky Mullins. And not only were we reminded of Chucky's injury, but what he means to the Ole Miss community and spirit. LeGrand's injury is, truly, a heartbreakingly tragic one. But if there is any modicum of good, any sliver of optimism that one could derive from all of this, it's that we know that the support of the Rutgers family of administrators, athletes, fans, and students will all be fully behind Eric LeGrand and his loved ones through these difficult times. We know this, because we have seen this. We have seen that, in the wake of tragedy, the goodness of the human spirit will ultimately prevail.
Godspeed, Eric. We Rebels are with you, your family, your friends, and your fans.
