Rebels add hoops recruit

Ole Miss receives commitment from 2011 prospect Tyler Poole

Andy Kennedy and his staff got an early jump on the 2011 recruiting process when they garnered the signature of Tyler Poole today.

Poole is a 6'6" forward from North Carolina (Hickory).  Poole selected the Rebels over Virginia and South Carolina.  He is an adept shooter who plays a physical style of basketball on both ends of the court.  As a sophomore, he averaged 15 points per game for his high school and nearly 18 points per game for his AAU squad.

Apparently, Poole has a relative who works for the University that helped facilitate him choosing the Rebels.  At Ole Miss, even with basketball recruiting, it is all about who you know.

McCready said on Rivals that the Rebels are looking to sign up to five prospects for the 2011 recruiting class.  Best guess who those five players that the staff is looking to replace is:

Polynice, Warren, Graham, Gaskins and hopefully Kevin Cantinol.  I know they say he has made major improvements every offseason, but this blogger will never be convinced that he can contribute on an SEC roster.

As for the 2010 recruiting class, I expect the Rebels to add another player with the departure of Terrico White seeming more likely after this season.

I'll go ahead and admit that I didn't do any research regarding how many scholarship players we have on roster, and if there is a scholarship available from loss of Malcolm and Huertas.  I'll check that later, so don't call me out on it and I'll figure it out after tonight.
