One Man to Beat and I sound like Idiots - I know it has already been mentioned twice on here, but visit Rock M Nation (link in post below) to listen to us chat with some Mizzou bloggers about the upcoming regional. I would also encourage you to visit their site and read up on what they've written on the weekend.
Houston Nutt on his way to the Middle East - Remember this? Well Coach Nutt left yesterday and should be halfway there by now. Love him or hate him, you've gotta appreciate these guys taking time out of their summers to boost the spirits of our servicemen and women. Of course, I'm sure he's going over there to commit some recruiting violations, add to our 37-man signing class, and bang a weatherlady, right guys? Well have it be known that Bobby Petrino was invited but had his offer immediately recinded when fears that he would defect to the Taliban arose. BURN!\
Jevan Snead Owns You - Chris Low has him as the 3rd best player in the SEC. Yeah, I'd say that's about right. Remember, when considering these player rankings, you've got to consider whose individual succes has the greatest impact on their team's success. By that standard, Jevan is easily top-5.
So the SEC/Big East Challenge isn't Enough for you, Slive?!? - Actually he's right, we should beef-up our non-conference basketball schedules. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive feels that our poor NCAA Basketball tournament performance as of late has a lot to do with our cupcake roundball schedules. While we will never be what the Big East is, one has to think that New Orleans, Memphis, Jackson, Atlanta, and the other Southern metropolitan areas should be able to sustain a few top-10 caliber squads. We really have no excuse for this.
The Starting Nine - David Brandt provides an interesting set of pointers for folks attending this week's regional. Although Ivory Tower is fuming at the thought of me asking our loyal Cup fans to visit any Brandt-related website, I advise you to check it out here.
