LSU names Game 3 starter

LSU has named it's Game 3 starter. Alden Cartwright has a 2.16 ERA, 16 strikeouts and three walks in 16.2 innings pitched. Those are some impressive numbers, but he has just one career start. Here's the scouting report, via Chase Parham: Fasball mid-upper 80s, utilizes his 12-6 breaking ball in any count, spins it in hitter’s counts.

Rebs even series with Friday win

This was much easier to watch than Thursday's game.

Highlights: Rebels Beat LSU 5-1 on Friday Night

Christian Trent was just outstanding, and the Rebel bats did more than enough to win.

At least there were beer showers

The Rebs may not have won last night, but it was still a pretty damn exciting game with multiple beer showers. Here's a photo of what I presume to be the celebration after Sikes Orvis's second-inning home run.

Bill Buckner shows up at Swayze, Rebs lose to LSU

The Rebs fell, 4-3, to the Tigers in 13 innings on Thursday night, thanks in large part to a pair of grounders through the legs.

Rebs crush State in Game 3

For all the drama Saturday, Ole Miss turned the rubber game into a snoozer on Sunday. The Rebs racked up 20 (yes, 20) hits against a State team that clearly burned through its pitching in the first two games. Sam Smith allowed two runs and six hits over six innings. Ole Miss now sits in second place in the SEC behind Bama.

#SundaySizzle gets some Run Support

The Rebs are cruising in Starkville right now. Let's hope they keep it up.

State sets national attendance record

State is really excited about this baseball series. They set the all-time on-campus college baseball record on Saturday, passing the previous mark of 14,991 (which was also set in Starkville back in 1989). The most attended college baseball game, regardless of ballpark, drew 40,106 to Petco Park to watch San Diego State and Houston in 2004.

Game 2 lineup

Bianco's going with largely the same lineup that beat State on Friday, just swapping J.B. Woodman for Brantley Bell at DH.

Perfect Game notes Chris Ellis

Kendall Rogers takes a look at the Rebs' Friday night win over State, particularly the performance by Chris Ellis, who overcame early control issues and a mounting pitch count to work 6.2 innings of one-run baseball. Rogers notes that Ellis "couldn’t help but to get more amped up when fans beyond the right field wall uncontrollably heckled him." Deal with it, Starkville.

Rebs take Game 1, 6-1

The Rebs jumped on State early and never looked back, hammering out double digit hits and stymying the Bulldogs' offense. Chris Ellis fought through some early pitch count trouble to pick up the win over 6.2 inning, allowing just the one run. With Aaron Greenwood back in Oxford with an injury, Wyatt Short worked the final 2.1 to help keep the pen fresh for the rest of the weekend.

Friday lineup

Brantley Bell earns the nod at DH and Will Jamison starts in right field instead of J.B. Woodman.
