Ole Miss is one of eight teams to advance to Omaha. Those eight have been divided into two bracket groups of four. Each group will play a double elimination mini-tournament with an identical format to the opening regional round. The winner of each group then advances to the College World Series Finals, a best of three series for the national championship.
Essentially, this is an expedited version of the first two rounds: a four-team regional followed by a best of three super regional.
Losses reset after the group round, so you could theoretically win the national championship with two defeats in Omaha.
The two groups are listed below, with national seeds in parentheses.
Texas Tech (7) TCU
Ole Miss (sigh)
As you've probably already noticed, the Rebs' group features the only two national seeds in Omaha, and they have an opening game pairing with Virginia, the highest seed left in the tournament.
The only way they can meet Vanderbilt, their lone SEC partner, is in the finals.
