First, do us a favor and give Bearded Ginger and Fit4LifeLLC some props. They're hardly working so they can work hard to bring to us all the stats you crave. (Stats: they're what sports nerds crave.)
Second, read Catfish's Right Field Review.
Third, read up on Vandy's pitching:
Friday - Kevin Ziomek (Jr. LHP): Ziomek has been phenomenal thus far for Vandy. The junior is currently 5-1 with a 1.89 ERA in 7 starts. Through 52.1 innings, Ziomek has only allowed 12 runs (11 earned) off 28 hits. Kevin has struck out 62 while only walking 15, which puts him at 5th best in the conference for K:BB ratio. Opponents are only hitting .157 against him this season. Ziomek also has both of Vandy's complete games with one of those being a shutout. He is a workhorse pitcher so don't be surprised if he and Bobby Wahl duke it out for 7 or 8 innings.
Saturday - Tyler Beede (So. RHP): Beede has been just as impressive thus far this season. Tyler is currently 7-0 with a 0.99 ERA through 7 starts. That .99 ERA is the 15th best ERA in the entire nation. Through 45.2 innings pitched, Beede has allowed only 8 runs (5 earned) off 22 hits. He has struck out 44 men while walking 31. Even with opponents hitting .151 against him, it seems he puts quite a bit of runners on base. Ole Miss has to capitalize off his tendencies to walk batters if they wanna pull out the victory on Saturday.
Sunday - Philip Pfeifer (So. LHP): Pfeifer is currently 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA through 8 appearances (7 starts). Through 37.1 innings pitched, Pfeifer has allowed 19 runs (16 earned) off 35 hits. He has 32 strike outs to go along with 15 walks. Opponents are hitting .267 off Philip thus far this season.

Vanderbilt comes into Oxford with a 6-2 road record and tied for 1st with LSU for the best record in the SEC at 8-1. The Commodores are also fielding at a very clip (.977) having committed only 26 errors. By contrast the Rebels have committed 7 more in 1 game less. Vanderbilt has scored a total of 215 runs on the year for an average of 7.17/game.
This Vandy team appears to be the most active team on the bases that the Rebels have faced this season aside from Texas A&M, stealing at a 79% success rate. Vandy is drawing walks at a very high rate on the year,155, to only 176 strikeouts, a 1.14 strikeout to walk ratio. Very solid. On paper they are patient at the plate, put the ball in play and aggressive on the bases when the reach. This weekend's matchup versus Vandy poses to this point of the season the Rebels toughest challenge. The Commodores are not a only a solid SEC title contender but in some peoples minds they are a legit national title contender.
The game times (CDT) are as follows:
- Friday - 6:30 PM
- Saturday - 4:00 PM
- Sunday - 1:30 PM
