Ole Miss' School of Medicine has a long history of setting precedents in life-saving procedures. Mississippi's Flagship University, through University Medical Center introduced the world to the heart transplant 50 years ago.

Continuing in the realm of history making medicine, HIV Specialist Dr. Hannah Gay tried radical new treatment on an infant infected with the AIDS virus, and appears to have , as other specialists are saying now, "cured" the child.
