Here's how the Rebels (21-7, 10-5) match up with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-20, 2-13) using the Four Factors. (Conference Rank in Parentheses)
|Ole Miss O||msu D||msu O||Ole Miss D|
|eFG%||48.3% (6)||54.4% (14)||42.9% (13)||49.8% (10)|
|TO%||15.7% (1)||20.8% (6)||24.8% (14)||19.1% (9)|
|OR%||33.2% (6)||39.1% (14)||26% (14)||32.4% (10)|
|FTR||41.2 (4)||27.8 (1)||35.4 (8)||28.3 (2)|
Nothing to breakdown. The bulldogs have lost 13 straight games. Only 3 of those losses have been by less than 10 points. Of the 8 factors above, they are last or second to last in 5 of them. Get down there, handle your business, and get back to civilization.
The 4 Factors looked like this from last month’s game in Oxford. The Rebels did a poor job rebounding the ball, but their lack of hustle – at least in that game – can be attributed to such a large lead just about the entire game. The Rebels dominated the game in every other facet.
I expect the same tomorrow. The bulldogs will likely do a better job controlling the tempo – 76 possessions in Oxford – but it won’t matter. Rick Ray is doing as god a job as you could expect with the roster he has, but he’s just not working with anything. The Rebels will likely have to weather a surge at the beginning of the game, but once emotion wears off and talent kicks in, no reason this one stays close.
(Stone Cold, Lead Pipe Locks to be Incorrect) Predictions:
Ole Miss 75 Mississippi State 46
Murphy Holloway scores going right!
Marshall Henderson has some fun at the expense of a bulldog student section there not to cheer for their own team, but rather to boo and spew hate towards the Rebels
Martavious Newby has 6 steals
(As always, the conference rankings pulled from kenpom.com, quite possibly the coolest site on the whole wide intertubes... Red Cup Rebellion excluded of course)
