Missed several of the past few weeks. My apologies. To my knowledge, nothing drastic has occurred with the former Rebels since my last post.
As always, the stats are below.
Lance Lynn (Cardinals)- Lynn pitched 6 innings this past week allowing 7 hits, 2 ERs, and 4Ks. Lynn is now 13-4 (good for 2nd most in the NL) with a 1.27 WHIP. The once NL leader in ERA now has an ERA of 3.40. Lynn also has 127 Ks with 45 BBs. You would have to think that Lynn may be considered (at least in the conversstion) for the Cy Young. We will see.
Drew Pomeranz (Rockies)- Pomeranz is still really struggling. He pitched 4 innings allowing 5 hits with 3 ERs and 3 Ks. Drew is now 1-6 with a 1.5 WHIP with a 5.13 ERA. Not very good numbers. I remember reading an article this past week saying Drew doesn't know how to pitch yet when he doesn't have his best stuff. The article referenced his time at Ole Miss and said he could get by on pure talent, but that isn't happening in the majors.
Seth Smith (A's)- Seth went on the DL on Thursday with a bad hamstring. Leading up to that Seth was 1-15 that week. Unfortunate timing for Seth as he was hitting the ball pretty wel other than his 1-15 weekl. Seth is now hitting .237 with an OBP of .342. He also has 11 HRs with 39 RBIs. He also has a WAR (Wins Above Replacement) of 1,1.
Zack Cozart (Reds)- Zach went 9-30 (.300) over the past week with 1 HR and 2 RBIs. Zach is now hitting .247 with an OBP of .293 with 11 HRs and 24 RBIS. Zach had a WAR of 1.0. Pretty solid numbers for a rookie on the team with the best record in baseball.
Alex Presley (Pirates)- Alwx went 3-14 (.214) with 0 HRs and 0 RBIs this past week. Alex is now hitting .235 with an OBP of .276. Fairly average numbers. The biggest stat for Presley is his WAR of .1. That shows he is very replaceable and was shown as the Pirates called up their top prospect who also plays Presley's position of LF. Both are expected to play until one proves himself. Hopefully it's Alex. But time will tell.
